Craigslist is a free classifieds website that allows people to put their cars, furniture, jewelry and more up for sale. You can go there to find out what people are offering in your local area, and a lot of times you can get a better selection than you may anywhere else online, just because the ads are free to post. Buying Craigslist cars isn’t difficult at all. Follow the steps below if this is what you want to do.
Step 1 – Find Your City
Start your search by going to Craigslist.org. Once you’re there, you should see a list of cities, states, countries and the like. Click on your state of residence. Then find the city on Craigslist that is closest to you. It may not be your exact location, but there should still be people in your area posting under the name of that larger city.
Step 2 – Find the Cars
Once you are on the city’s page, look at the “for sale” section. If you go to “cars+trucks”, you can see all of the vehicles that people have recently posted up. These will be organized by most recent posts, so you can scroll down the page until you see something. A lot of people forget to take their ads off the site, so don’t get discouraged if the car you want is not for sale any longer. It still can’t hurt to try for it.
Step 3 – Contact the Seller
Once you have a car picked out, you can either call the number on the ad or send an email to the address listed there. A lot of people hide their contact information until someone emails them. Just state your interest in the car and any questions you may have about it. Then wait for a reply. If everything goes well, you can schedule a test drive and eventually make a purchase.
