Where To Look For Hidden Job Opportunities

If you are someone who is clinging to his job, the latest job report probably does not give you the confidence of your ability to find something else should you be dismissed from your current work environment. The report was bad news for a lot of Americans confirming what they already knew. The job market is depressed and the near 8 million jobs lost in the recession probably won’t ever be recovered.

While the odds might seem to be stacked against you, these numbers should not get you down. There is a hidden job market out there and there are jobs available but they just aren’t advertised. All it takes is a bit of guts to go cold calling and you might be able to find some odd jobs. And who knows what next this could lead to?

For instance, the house cleaning job market is very much based on word of mouth advertising. A lot of people who need hired help don’t actually go through the trouble of advertising on job boards or going through an agency. They just have a fear of who is coming into their house so the best way to get these jobs is through recommendations. If you’re willing to give house cleaning a try, talk to your family, friends and neighbors letting them know you’re looking for cleaning job vacancies. If you’re a hard worker and honest, they will gladly help you out.

After you get a group of clients together, you’ll be quite surprised at how much you like the schedule of regular clients and therefore regular pay. Also, it’s great to be your boss and dictate your own working hours.

Therefore, despite the fact that the job reports say that there’s not a lot of opportunities out there, there still is if you’re willing to look for these hidden job opportunities.
