Female Hair Loss Help

All That She Wants...

For years the only option for a woman to deal with her hair loss has been to wear a hat, a scarf, or buy a wig.  Although several treatments and remedies were available for male pattern baldness, the corresponding problem for women was never really addressed.  This has now changed as there is finally female hair loss help available which is safe and effective.

Although women and men generally suffer from the same cause of premature balding, Androgenic Alpecia, the resulting way this medical condition manifests itself is quite different for the two sexes.  When men lose their hair the normal condition is for the hair to thin on the crown and at the hair line above the face.

Hair thinning at the crown or vertex of the scalp results in the classic bald spot and hair loss above the face is a receding hair line.  These two conditions are referred to as male pattern baldness because of the pattern of hair loss which is usually seen.  Most men’s hair restoration systems are focused on these areas because the hair growth is very thick at the back of the head usually.

Women, on the other hand, will generally see thin hair problems over their entire scalp instead in patterns like the men.  This precludes them from receiving any type of hair implants or hair transplants because there is no area of good hair growth to use as a donor site.  Because of this problem, not much has been done with female hair loss until the FDA approved a new drug.

Minoxidil was originally developed as a treatment for high blood pressure.  During clinical trials it was found to help men with their hair loss problems so further testing on this application was undertaken.  These new studies proved the effectiveness for both men and women thus opening the door to help for female hair thinning and loss.  The only different between the treatment for men VS women is males are approved for a 5% active solution while women are only approved to use a 2% solution.
