Different Types of Womens Bras

Women’s bras are a thing of wonder. They come in so many forms and functions it’s almost ridiculous. And by ridiculous I mean lavish. There is a specific bra for every purpose yet so many choices for that purpose alone it’s almost impossible to choose which one is the best.

And then there are those which are not really necessary but you want them anyway because they’re so damn pretty they’re deliciously tempting. From a training bra to a sports bra to an underwire bra and anything else you can think of, they come in a rainbow of styles, colors and fabrics to suit each specific want and need.

A training bra is the “stage one” of women’s bras. For a pre-teen girl who is too young to wear a regular bra but already need some kind of support and protection, this is the perfect solution. It’s usually made of cotton and comes in simple or dainty little designs fit for a budding teenage girl.

A built-in bra is the extra elastic fabric built inside halters or spaghetti strap tops. It doesn’t provide as much support as a standard bra but at least keeps your breasts in place rather than moving around totally unprotected.

A mastectomy bra on the other hand is a kind of bra worn by women who have undergone breast removal surgery due to cancer. It comes with a pad to fill in the empty space where the breast was removed and makes a woman feel feminine and desirable again.

Full cup or full coverage bras provide full support by covering the whole breast area and usually come with under-wires. This is a must-have for women with big breasts who need extra support and protection. If it’s cleavage that you’re after, a demi bra is the answer. “It gives support while still giving a slight peak at what you offer under your clothes.”

It is an underwire bra which features a “lifting appeal” for an overall sensual look. A padded bra is perfect for ladies who are not quite gifted on that area but want to create the image of larger breasts. It comes with built-in padding inside the cups of the bra to create the impression of fullness and eliminate the age-old habit of filling in your bra with tissues.

A convertible bra is probably one of the greatest inventions ever. You can change it into several looks to match the style of your dress. You can wear it like a regular bra, strapless, criss cross, one-shoulder and several other styles to appear invisible while giving you the support you need under your sexy clothes.

For women who regularly exercise or are engaged in sports, a sports bra is a definite must-have. Sports bras are designed to give extra superior support and protection for physically active women so they can go about their thing in perfect ease and comfort.

A maximizer bra does exactly that – maximize your assets. Whether you’re small-breasted or full-figured, a maximizer bra pushes it up a notch or two with additional padding and underwires while still giving a natural appearance.

A minimizer bra on the other hand does the exact opposite. For women who have extra large breasts and want to “tone” them down a bit, this is a great option.

A maternity bra and nursing bra are for expectant or new mothers. A woman’s body changes drastically during and after pregnancy and these bras help a lot in going through that change. A nursing bra is practically convenient for breastfeeding mothers.

The front fabric of the bra folds down when you need to feed your baby and easily snaps back after so you don’t have to take your bra on and off every time you breastfeed your baby. It may not be sexy like the other bras but it totally serves its purpose.

A shelf bra, peephole bra and pasties are “barely bras.” They cover only a small part of the breast, leaving the entire upper cleavage and nipple exposed. They don’t offer support of any kind other than for sexual arousing purposes.

Bras come in all styles, colors and fabrics imaginable. From the standard back closure to front closure, side-closure, strapless and backless, the options are simply limitless. Just choose a style that fits you right and comfortably so that wherever you go, whatever you do, you feel safe and confident because you know you are secured and protected.
