Use Display Cabinets as Multi Utility Items

I am an interior designer. I love doing up the homes of individuals living nearby my area. Otherwise am engaged in product design which I do from home on the internet and submit to the company that I design for.

I am a great fan of wooden cabinets. All of my projects you will find invariably contain one or two pieces of wooden cabinets used creatively for various purposes. One of my favorite is to use wooden cabinet without glasses in children’s room and display all of their soft toys in the cabinet.

Children love this. Many believe that the toys are sitting and talking to them and I have seen children having chat with them. They often take pride in re arranging their toys home and cleaning them up.

One of the weekends, while having a drink with friends at the local bar, I chanced upon the most beautiful shot glass display cabinet just behind the bar on the wall. The bar was dark and the focus light was on the display cabinet.

This was an old classic piece must have been at least a hundred years old. One could tell by the design and the quality of the wood. Beautiful old glassware was displayed in the cabinet which had no glass cover.

The glasses too were of the 60’s and 70’s period. Most interestingly the cabinet had at the bottom a neat wooden stripe which contained hooks for the bottle openers to be hung. Looking around in admiration I found two other similar glass cabinets which had glass covered with frame. They were locked and housed old beer mugs.

I have now borrowed this idea of using shot glass display cabinets in all my home projects. I use them in the kitchen and the home bar. I also use them creatively in the living room and children’s room.

Children’s study corner is the right place for putting up the glass cabinet. We fill up the cabinet with different types of small little animals. The display items keep changing depending upon the child’s mood. Many parents have reported back that they go shopping regularly to buy small toys for the cabinets.
