Credit restoration is the goal of many Americans trying to get back on their financial feet. This can seem difficult especially if your debt is in the tens of thousand or you simply have limited income. The good news is that regaining good credit is possible. You just need to know how to do it and be willing to put in the work needed. Here are some great tips to help you restore your good credit.
First you should try to pay your debtors instead of collection agencies. In most cases paying the collection agency will only make your credit report look the same even if the amount is paid in full. Try to remember the original company you owed money to and have them get the collection agency of your back.
Create a debt relief budget. One of the biggest obstacles to clearing debt and improving credit is find the money to do so. The simple matter is that like saving you can do it a bit at a time and plan for it. Create a plan that will direct extra income towards paying your debt. At the same time don’t pay it all at once. Make regular payments over time and try to make extra payments to reduce the principle.
When paying down your debts principle payments are very important. Interest is a borrower’s worst nightmare. To reduce the impact of interest make extra payments when possible towards the original amount owed.
This is a great strategy because while your interest rate won’t change you will be able to lower you monthly payments. The smaller the initial amount owed the smaller the interest amount owed will be in dollars even if the rate is the same.
Credit restoration is possible. You just need to see that it will need to be done the way you got into debt. That is little by little and in fits and starts.

Thanks for the encouragement about credit restoration. I understand now that it will take time and patience.
After overhauling your credit report, the next thing you should do is to maintain that good credit and this can be quite difficult. I had a good experience while repairing my credit, what I didn’t see was how I could maintain it. I got into this mess because of bad credit practices and now that I just finished repairing it, I must face the difficulty of maintaining it.
Fortunately, I have been successful for over a year now by simply following the basics. What I first did was to pay my bills on time which can really do a lot for your credit score. Next I saw to it that I had constant communication with people to whom I owed money. Making a well planned budget and sticking to it is also key to maintaining your newly restored credit score. Don’t make the same mistake twice, after doing your credit repair, maintain it.
