What to Look for in Small Printers for Computers

This morning in the computer lab..

There are different types of printers available in the market today, while some are going all-out with their features; some keep them simple and portable. The demand for small printers for computers has slowly been steadily increasing as the consumers become more mobile.

Gone are the days when having your own computer set-up such as a laptop, a scanner and a printer at the back of your truck, makes you a nerd. Now even, a regular employee could have this set-up.

Such printers could be narrowed down into two smaller groups:

Photo printer and Regular Printer.

Photo printers are usually adapted to the same brand of camera, or cell phone, which enables users to print their photos instantly. It is like a modern version of Polaroid, however, as people see the advantage of having a portable photo printer different manufacturers come up with printers that could be used for different brands and devices. This type of printer usually weighs from 3 to 4 pounds.

The regular printer has everything that you would use a printer for as far as, documents, text, some pictures etc. This may also be classified in most gadget website reviews as mobile or wireless printer. Here are some printer models to look out for: Canon and HP printer models.

When buying small printers for computers you have to take note of the following:

Connectivity – Does it support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or infrared? You should consider if your devices match with them. Does it have USB ports? Could your DSLR be connected, does it come with card reader?

Mobility – Does it come with a carrying case? Do you think it is sturdy enough to keep up with your hectic schedule?

Weight – It should be lightweight and would fit into a bag and be carried elsewhere.

Print Quality – If you constantly have to reprint your work in another printer, to make it “look better” than this is not the right one for you.

Format – Consider which formats you normally use every day and see if the printer is capable of printing them. Whether it is for A4 size, photo prints and so on.
