A few times each week there is always a chance to view the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Infomercial on T.V. The energetic Jack Lalanne dances around while promoting his line of juicing machines.
During the infomercial Jack LaLanne teams up with his wife and some other celebrities to promote the health benefits of juicing and to explain how it helps to increase their overall health, vitality and youthfulness.
So the question remains, is the Jack LaLanne power juicer as dazzling as it is presented? Well for the price, about $90 – $100 for the cheapest model the power juicer classic, the juicer holds up great compared to other electric juicing machines that are generally more expensive.
The whisper quiet operation of the power juicer is one of the most notable pros of this juicer. It really does run at a surprisingly quiet speed for the strength of the motor. I have actually not heard a more quiet juicing machine.
The individual parts of the power juicer are dish washer safe (except the main motor section of the juicer, which is not exposed anyhow) but will take a little pre-cleaning by hand for this process to be effective. For this reason I think it is easier to clean the parts by hand, it takes about 5 minutes total.
The claim is that the power juicer extracts up to 30% more juice than other juicers. Although I have no hard figures, the left over pulp is impressively dry and the juice yield does appear to be great.
The 3″ chute is a good size and is larger than the chute of many of the juicers at the time the Jack LaLanne power juicer was released into the market. This 3″ chute does help cut down on prep time. Almost all fruits and vegetables will go through whole or at least cut in half. Of course there a few exceptions like watermelons and pineapples!
Overall I think the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer is the best juicer you can buy for $100 and you will not be disappointed. If you have a little more money to spend that I recommend reading Breville Juice Fountain Elite Guide.
