Today, the Dakine factory in Hood, Oregon produces all sorts of Dakine backpacks. That factory’s first backpack was named the “wonder” pack. The Dakine wonder backpacks provided surfers with a wonderful new way to carry their gear. Each pack had special straps, straps that could be used to hold and carry a surfboard.
The Wonder packs filled the needs of all water sports enthusiasts. In addition, they were sturdy enough to hold up in a rugged, oceanfront setting. Hawaiian surfers, who had to deal with both powerful waves and corral reefs appreciate the sturdiness of Dakine’s Wonder pack.
Adaptations of the Wonder pack have allowed Dakine to create all sorts of different backpacks. Some of the most popular packs are the technical backpacks. Although each pack stands only 18 inches high, it can hold both a snowboard and a laptop.
A Dakine product called “The Mission” is an adaptation of the first technical backpack. It comes equipped with both a pocket for goggles and straps for a snowboard.
While snowboarders praise the characteristics of “the Mission,” hikers prefer to purchase and use Dakine’s Nomad pack. That pack comes with a drop down organizer.
Mountain climbers have welcomed introduction of the Dakine Endo. It has tool pockets, compartments that can hold all manner of mountain climbing gear. It also has a mesh side pocket, one into which a climber can stuff his or her raingear.
A backpack named “the Element” is one of the newest packs coming from the Oregon factory. It has a pocket that is large enough to hold a CD player. It also has a small pocket that can be used to carry the cord port.
When a surfer. a hiker or climber returns to a college campus, he or she continues to appreciate the many pockets found in a Dakine Wonder. Hence, Dakine wonder backpacks appear in varied locations throughout a typical college campus.
