About IBS

Spastic Colon is just another name for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (or IBS for short). Spastic colon is when you have trouble controlling some of your bowel movements. Usually, in a healthy bowel, the muscles that control bowel movements are automatically kept tense, and when you want to release a bowel movement, the muscles relax.

When you have spastic colon, your muscles relax when you don’t want them to, and this results in the unwanted and untimely bowel movements you may have experienced. Because of the nature of spastic colon, many people are naturally embarrassed to discuss it, even with their doctor.

However, spastic colon is actually a very common condition, and your doctor will no doubt have dealt with many cases of the condition before. Furthermore, don’t you think it’s better to feel a little bit of discomfort around your doctor than have to deal with embarrassing bowel movements for the rest of your life?

If you’re not sure whether or not you have spastic colon, there are a few common symptoms to look out for: abdominal cramps, a bloating sensation, constipation, and uncontrollable diarrhea. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important that you visit a doctor and explain exactly what it is you are experiencing. Then your doctor can make a diagnosis and tell you whether or not you have spastic colon.

There are various different methods for treating spastic colon. Often the condition can be cured by changing certain aspects of your diet. Some common foods are often not designed to be consumed by the human body, and spastic colon can be the result of eating such foods.

A common spastic colon diet is to avoid foods high in fat or caffeine, and get plenty of fiber in your diet. Alternatively, your doctor may prescribe medication to treat your condition.
