Overcoming an Addiction to Drugs and Manage Chronic Pain
If you want to overcome an addiction to drugs then you need to take serious action. Some people are not free from their denial just yet and they are not in a position to take real action against their disease. Other people are ready to surrender and thus the ask for help and are genuinely motivated to do something about their problem.
For example, many people who suffer from Fioricet addiction, for example, need to find a better way to manage their pain rather than to continue to abuse drugs. Some people think that Fioricet is an opiate drug that is similar to Vicodin, but in fact it is another class of drugs entirely that is called barbiturates.
These are still addictive drugs however and can lead to major problems with addiction, not to mention a potentially dangerous withdrawal. Anyone who is serious about getting off of these drugs needs to go beyond the idea of drug and alcohol testing and start their journey in recovery with total abstinence, followed up with a new way to live their life and a new way to manage their pain. If they continue to depend on narcotic drugs to manage their pain then they will probably always be struggling to control their drug use.
There are alternatives to living this way, even if you suffer from serious chronic pain. For example, there are pain clinics that can treat pain locally without narcotics, there are alternative methods that can all help contribute to the lessening of your pain, including meditation, relaxation techniques, tens units, and so on.
There are plenty of alternatives out there and when used together in combination most people can find a way to make their pain livable. The goal is not to live completely pain free, as that would put most people in a zombie state. The goal is to be halfway comfortable and get control of your life back. You can do this if you are willing to investigate the alternatives.
