Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is a very difficult condition to deal with, made more complicated due to it being a very sensitive and sometimes emotional condition. While you cannot ever totally stop sweating (your body needs to sweat), it is possible to bring it to more manageable levels.
There are different methods you can use to stop excessive sweating, and sometimes you have to try different things before you find something that works well for you. Here are a few things that you can try, which may help you.
One of the first things to do, if you want to control your sweating and the resultant body odor that accompanies it, is to shave under your arms. If you shave under your arms you will automatically reduce levels of the odor-producing bacteria that love to live there. If it is too embarrassing for men to shave under their arms, they can always just trim their armpit hair way back.
Another thing to look at is the diet. Some foods cause people to sweat more profusely, including garlic, onion, curry and other spicy foods. If you suspect that these foods may cause you to sweat more than usual, try cutting them out of your diet and see if that helps at all.
Losing weight is also sometimes a help in bringing excessive sweating under control. Excessive fat traps heat inside the body, and a hotter body temperature will for sure result in more sweating. So, eat healthy and do your exercises.
There is a more permanent cure for hyperhidrosis. In extremely serious cases, a surgical procedure can be undertaken. Surgeons will cut the sympathetic nerves, these are the nerves that send signals from your brain to your sweat glands, telling them to increase the sweating.
Unfortunately this also has some fairly serious side effects, thus it is usually a very last resort when it comes to helping people overcome problems with excessive sweating. In fact, it can even cause you to sweat more in other areas of your body, just to compensate.
