Different Wood Flooring Types
If you are looking for a flooring type that could instantly enhance the appearance of a room or space in your home, then wood flooring would be your best bet.
Because of the natural grain pattern and color of wood, wood floors can give a feeling of warmth to any room. Not only that, but wood flooring designs such as parquet flooring are found in some of the most expensive and beautiful homes in the world.
The key to the beauty of wood flooring is all because there are several types of flooring available in the market today and quite frankly, choosing one could be rather difficult.
First off, you would need to decide on the thickness of the wood planks that you would use for your floors. You can get antique wide plank flooring which are quite thick and can endure wear and heavy use. There are also solid wooden floor pieces which are about 3/8 to 3/4 inches thick.
These wood floor pieces can also last for several generations and could be refinished a number of times. Another type of wood floor planks would be those which are called engineered hardwood or wood veneer flooring. These would be the least durable among the wood floor options but are widely used because they are inexpensive and are readily available.
You can also base your choice through the type of wood used. Those which are made of hardwood are the most durable. Some of the most durable types of wood that can be used for flooring would be Brazilian ebony, oak, ash and maple.
Another aspect of wood floor planks that you need to consider would be type of finish that they have. You can get those with a surface finish. These are basically planks that are first stained and sealed with varnish. You can also get those that have a penetrating finish. These are more popular as the wood has a more long-lasting color and a harder finish.
Try searching online for some of the best types of wood flooring that you can consider getting for your new home or for your remodeling project. Through doing some research, you would be able to find those that would suit your budget and your requirements.
