What is the difference between C-pap and Bi-Pap sleep apnea machines? For the benefit of those who have no idea what is sleep apnea or maybe have only a slight idea about it, I’m going to devote the first paragraph explaining briefly what is sleep apnea and how it affects you so you will understand the significant difference between c-pap and bi-pap machines.
First of all, sleep apnea’s symptoms are normally identified as snoring loudy and suddenly stopping and then maybe some arm or legs flailing as the body grasps for air. Why has the body suddenly stopped breathing? There’s many theories and each individual is different, therefore do not take my word as diagnosis and see a doctor for it.
One of the most common reasons for sleep apnea is obesity as fat can and will obstruct your airway by pushing and contracting the airway. The second reason is blocked airyways that are resulted from, maybe a deviated septum, allergy, and etc. There’s many reasons and it’s not important that we investigate them all for our purpose here.
Now lets get on to the difference between c-pap and bi-pap. To summarize (if you’re not inclined to read tons of text and details) bi-pap is the better equiped and comfortable apnea masks compared to c-pap which has limited function. There you have it. For those who want details, here are the differences.
Bi-pap comes equipped with a regulator that makes breathing much easier. Their air is pumped into your airways when you inhale and stopps pumping when you need to exhale, compared that with c-pap which keeps pumping air into your airways no matter what you do.
The 2nd most important difference is that bi-pap comes with a humidifier which makes the whole breathing experience easier on the throat. Compared that with c-pap which doesn’t come with humidifier and makes your throat very dry in the next morning. However, because bi-pap comes with so many functions and useful moving parts, its more expensive and harder to maintain.
