Forget everything you have read or heard about getting rid of cellulite. Forget the discussions about the lotion, potions, cellulite removal cream and strange massage machines. If you are truly serious about fighting cellulite then you need to use the only method that has been shown by scientific research to improve its appearance – exercise.
Now, I know what you are thinking. The word exercise can conjure up images of hard work and lots of time at the gym. Fortunately, an exercise program designed to lose cellulite only requires a maximum of forty to fifty minutes 3 to 4 times per week. This means that any one who really wants to combat cellulite, no longer has an excuse about not having enough time.
There are quite a few anti cellulite exercises out there on the internet. Some are good and others not so good. The way you can evaluate such programs is by seeing how much they emphasize weight training. The best programs have at least 50 per cent of the time dedicated to building lean muscle mass.
Why? Because muscle is what gives the cellulite fat a solid platform on which to rest and stops it from clumping, preventing the ugly dents and dimples. An interesting point is that skinny women who have bad cellulite usually have it because of a lack of muscle and not because of too much fat.
And don’t worry about becoming to muscular. Women can’t build muscle like men because they don’t have the hormones in their system that stimulates muscle growth. In contrast, a strength training program for women can actually make their body look more feminine by smoothing and toning the body.
The second thing you need to look for is the right strength training exercises. You need to do exercises like squats, deadlifts or leg presses. Anything that works the hips, thighs and legs. These exercises should be done in a slow and controlled manner that fatigues the muscle in around 10 to 12 repetitions.
Finally, don’t forget to add a little cardio in to the program to burn off the fat from the hips and thighs. You are not looking to remove too much fat. Just enough so that the muscle you are building doesn’t have to become too big in order to see a difference with your cellulite.
Don’t worry too much about what you eat. Get rid of all the junk food and sweets, and concentrate on eating fresh vegetables and fruit, and lean meat. Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and coffee.
