How to Properly Store Maple Syrup

One of the most popular sweet condiments or sugar alternative is maple syrup. It is made from the sap of a maple tree. While you may think that it is very easy to acquire a bottle of it, as you can just go to the supermarket to purchase one, the extracting process of the syrup from the sap is actually a very hard process. That is because the whole sap is not the syrup itself, but only a very small percentage of it.

You pour it over pancakes, you pour it over bread. Almost anything that sugar can do, maple syrup can do also. However, it is a very expensive alternative to sugar although some people claim that maple butter is so much healthier. That is why whenever we buy a bottle of it, we would only use a small portion of it and store it away.

We certainly hope that the maple syrup can last for a long time.  So does merely storing it in the refrigerator keep it from spoiling? Because that is what most of us do to make our bottle of organic maple candy last longer. We keep it in the refrigerator and let it chill there until we need to use it again.

But if you know that you will not be using it for a very long time, the best way to preserve maple syrup is to freeze it. Do not worry if it will lose its taste over time, because it has been proven that freezing maple syrup will not have any bad effect on its taste. Freezing preserves both the taste and the texture of the maple syrup.

You might think “why would you store it for that long?” That is because most people only use maple syrup occasionally and so finding the best way to store it makes perfect sense for most of them.
